Sunday Night Tradition

Sunday night is our favorite family night of the week. The boys get so excited because EVERY Sunday night (unless we have plans), we have a picnic on the floor. I always have a veggie tray, cut up fruit and sandwiches. It is so much fun and I actually look forward to it all week. It gets us out of routine and who doesn't love eating on the floor while watching a football game. Which I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting pretty devastated that the football season is almost over. I LOVE watching football. I even enjoy watching Sports Center so I can see all the results and best plays from all the other games I missed. When I was up nursing at night, the channel was always on ESPN. Sigh...why can't football season be all year long...

Anyhoo, and by the way, this picture is a couple weeks old, so no, I still don't have my tree up. Jett came up with a fun added bonus this week. He found my kabob sticks for grilling and thought it would be fun to use for our veggies and fruit...and claimer...no eyes were poked out during this meal even though they tried real hard to accomplish it:) Kyla has even graduated to the floor now. I set up a booster seat on the floor and she joins the party.

So what are some fun family traditions that you do?

We don't have any weekly traditions, but Valentines day is really special at the Schultz house. My girls have had boyfriends, and instead of going out with them, they want them to join us because they look forward to it so much. We start by really decorating the house and especially the dinning room table. I make individual heart shaped meatloafs and pink mashed potatoes. Corn and biscuits with pink margarine spread. I make them all homemade valentines and get them a small gift. We buy red sparkling grape juice and let them use the "fancy" wine glasses. I dip strawberries in chocolate and put them at each plate. Brett comes home with flowers and a little gift for me. We listen to Dean Martin or Sinatra and have candles everywhere. The love it! it shows them that we love them all and they can join Brett and I in our romantic atmosphere!

you are such a fun mom! thanks for sharing! our newest "tradition", if you want to call it that, is wednesday nights. brooks is on the worship team at chuch and they practice every wednesday night, after sharing a meal together. the girls and i have started joining them each week. they love to run up and down the aisles while singing and dancing their little hearts out! does that count as tradition?

Natalie, how fun! Can we come visit on Sun. evenings? :) And you guys can come on Fri. evenings...our new tradition we just started in Jan. is like you said when we don't have plans, every Fri. eve. is Friday Family Fun Night! Each time we take turns planning what to have for supper & the activity we're doing that night. We've only had 2 so far. Jaydon was first. Since he couldn't choose what to eat we let Braylon which he chose pancakes. And we just played w/Jaydon all evening. This past Fri. was Braylon's turn. He choose Mac & Cheese for supper (we had other stuff to go w/it). And we played "Dinosaur Train" all evening! This week is Ben's turn to pick so we'll see what happens then.

Angie, I LOVE your Valentine's tradition! So cool!
