The last month has been very emotional, sad, happy, joyful, full of memories and heartache. My Great Grandma Mabel (Snider) went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4th. A few weeks before that she had a stroke. We thought she would pull through because she was opening her eyes and was beginning to eat. She still was not able to speak, and we could tell it frustrated her, but we were very optimistic. We would go up and visit her as often as we could and her face would light up as soon as she saw the boys. She wanted to hold their hands and just look at them. My family then moved her to a place to rehabilitate, but unfortunately she took a turn for the worse one morning and never really "woke up" again. About two weeks went by and finally she let go. I would have loved to see her face when she heard the Lord say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!" It was a busy weekend with the services, but it was so good to see family that we haven't seen in a few years or recently. My heart hurt the night before the funeral. I was trying to explain to Jett where Grandma was and that we won't see her again until we go to Heaven. He looked up and said, "Mommy, I might cry."
I said, "Why?"
"Because I am going to miss Grandma Mabel," he said quietly
I thought I would write down a few memories of my Grandma. My sister wrote on her blog about some memories that she had of Grandma too(so check under "Zehrs" if you want to read hers.
When eating at her house, no matter how much food I ate at dinner it was never enough. I think she wanted me to puke to prove how full I was:)
For being 98 years old she was quite spunky. At Christmas, Greg, was helping her down the stairs, and had to jog down a bit to catch up.
She was so proud of her family and whenever I came to visit, she would update me on everyone's life.
When I called, you could hear the excitement in her voice.
There is much, much more, but I have two little boys screaming at me. So, thank you Grandma for being who you are making such an impact on who I am today! We will miss you!
