Well, we have almost reached the two week mark of having Brayden in our lives...and it has been wonderful. He is such a precious little baby.
Here is a picture of Brayden about a minute after birth. Labor went okay...as well as labor can go, I guess:) Around 3:00p.m I really started to have some strong contractions and by 6:00 we were off to the hospital. I got there and I was already 4cm - so I asked for an epidural immediately. The nurses had a bit of a mix up with who my doctor was, so they wouldn't give me one until I walked for an hour...needless to say, I was not a very happy patient. Finally my time was up and they checked again and I was almost to a 7c
m. Which if you don't know, after 7, you don't get one. It took another hour for them to get everything around and I was really starting to panic about missing my opportunity to have one. I vaguely remember telling Greg that I was going to sue whomever caused me to miss my epidural...funny now...not so much then. After I got it, life was good once again. Greg's dad came to the hospital and hung out in the room with us until it was time to push. It was so nice, I was a bit loopy, but I'm glad he was there. I know it meant a lot to Greg to have him there and he was so excited to be able to go straight to the waiting room to tell him the good news (picture of Grandpa Denny to the left). I only had to push a half an hour, which was much be
tter than my three hours with Jarrett. One thing that was so cool, was that some good friends of ours from church came in the same time we did and they had a little boy an hour after us. So Brayden and his new friend, Silas, will share the same birthday. We had a great hospital stay, we loved the nurses. It was so nice to see everyone that came to visit. Friends from church had it easy because they could come see both famlies at the same time (our rooms were right next to each other). Jarrett did okay with visiting...I think he was a bit freaked out with the whole hospital thing and Mommy laying in the bed. We missed Jett, but it was nice to just spend time together and alone with Brayden while we had the chance. We were so blessed to have family and friends so willing to help take care of Jett during our stay. Greg was super diaper changer - he thought he needed the gloves - it was pretty funny! It was quite the experience, but well worth every second of pain. I can't believe that I have two boys. Before we had Brayden I didn't know what I would think about having another boy, being the only girl in the family...even my dog is a boy. But the second I held him in my arms, I couldn't imagine anything else. I love my boys!
