Field Trip to the Fire Station

Yesterday Brayden and I got to go on his field trip to the New Paris Fire Station together. It was so fun to see his excitement...and I'm not gonna lie...a little stressful seeing how many buttons and gadgets a VERY curious 4 year old could touch.

We started off with a tour of the Ambulance. The kids learned about what was inside, got to hear their heartbeat and ride in a fun chair. Afterwards the lady turned on the lights and sirens for them. I prepared myself the whole time...but still jumped when she turned them on:)

They have a life size dummy to help with their drills, but also for the kids to see that a firefighter is not that scary. A lot of kids in a fire will run away from a firefighter, so this is a chance for them to touch it and see it's okay. Brayden would keep running up to it, touch it's helmet or lift up it's hand...and then run back to me. Baby steps...

We got to go inside a few fire trucks and see all their cool gadgets. Sitting on the engines were by the far the favorite of the whole group. At the end, we tried to get a class picture...and this is the best I could get of a group of 3-4 year olds.

Afterwards we went back to their classroom so they could have a snack, color some papers, sing songs, read books...and put on their very own paper helmet...this is big stuff for a 4 year old!
