Party Time!

Jett turned 2 yesterday...I can't believe I have a 2 year old! It was such a fun day. We got up and all had breakfast together and then we went to church (which was perfect for Jett...what's a birthday without seeing his church friends). Then we went out to eat with some friends. On the way home Jett fell asleep and then slept until almost 3:30...who's birthday was it, mom or Jett?:) Then Jett helped me with getting food around for the big party (helped - ate, whatever:). We had both our families over and I haven't see Jett so excited. Everyone that came to the door got a big "YAY!" and saw him jump around. We opened presents first, which was hilarious. Every gift came with a burst of elated joy. He got a wagon (which the second G'pa Replogle brought it in he ran over and jump up in it for a ride), a very cool tricycle (which today he sat on all day...snacks...movie...he pushed monkey in it - thanks Andrew, Denise, Darin and Darcy, great gift, maybe someday it will make it outside:). He got a shark tent and lantern from Lee and Becca...Greg already has huge ideas for camping with him. He also got some puzzles and money. Greg and I fixed up the sandbox that my Dad made us kids when we were little and we gave it to him for his birthday. So my parents and grandparents got him toys to play in the sandbox. Afterwards it was cake time. This year I got creative and made Jett a sailboat cake (the book had an airplane but it was one of the hardest to make, so for my first adventure we went with the easy one...maybe year 5 I'll have enough guts to try the plane...stay tuned. I had so much fun making the cake. I hate to pat myself on the back, but I think I did a pretty good job. I did everything like the book did, but I added some things. I added the fish and water and also at the front of the boat it says "The Jarrett". Both Greg and I grew up with our moms making us different shaped cakes and I remember how much I loved it, so I wanted to continue on with the tradition.
The rest of the night we just ate, played outside and talked. It was so great. Jett is such a blessed little boy. For the gifts and the fact that he has so many people who love him. God has just created our families so special. Everyone gets along so great and I love how we aren't just family, but great friends.

So real quick about the sandbox. I want to express how hard my sweet hubby worked to get Jett's sandbox ready in time for the big party. First of all, if you can't tell, the sandbox is huge. On Saturday afternoon we went to go get the sand. We started off with 20 - 50# bags. We came home and Greg had to take all the sod out while I transfered the sand from the van to the patio.
Note: I transfered 1000 lbs of sand...myself:) He worked until after dark and then realized that we needed another 16 bags...he was on his own then. So Sunday afternoon he went back and got more sand and then worked in the yard up until the party. Thanks sweetie, everything looked great!

how cool! That was what 1800# of sand. that is a huge sand box. It is so cool as you have kids what you remember and keep as traditions.

Awesome cake. I have no doubt you can tackle the airplane.
